Price Shopping A Roof

The final cost to you is the same whether you obtain quality, complete repairs or shoddy, inferior repairs.  It is more important that you discuss the quality of the materials and the workmanship of the crew than to negotiate the price of the roof.  This is because your insurance company will pay the same amount to the roofing company regardless of the materials used.  You are only responsible for the deductible, so you should try to get the best materials and workmanship for the money.

At Ground Zero Roofing, we will take the time to cover the details with regards to the materials used in the following areas:

  • Felt underlay: 15#, 30# or synthetic
  • Edge starter: reversed 3 tab shingle, or purpose made starter shingle
  • Valley material: rolled sheet metal closed, W valley, or Ice and water shield closed
  • Shingle: brand, warranty, color
  • Roof hardware including color
  • Hip and Ridge material: 3 tab or purpose made ridge material
  • Ventilation: static, mechanical, or electrical
  • Guttering

Some contractors will use inferior quality materials and charge superior pricing.  Compare all materials on quotes you receive, and ask the salesperson to explain why the company uses the brand and type of material he/she suggests for your home.

Be sure to inspect all materials when they are delivered to ensure you are getting what you were sold.
